What is an LSPN?
A Location Specific Practice Number (LSPN) is the identifier Services Australia issues to each diagnostic imaging or radiation oncology practice site. It is specific to the physical location: a group with four clinics holds four LSPNs, and a mobile service holds its own.
The LSPN must appear on every account, receipt and Medicare assignment of benefit form for diagnostic imaging services. No current LSPN means no Medicare benefits for the imaging you perform, which is why keeping the registration current matters as much as getting it in the first place.
Who needs an LSPN?
Any practice that provides diagnostic imaging services under Medicare needs one per site: radiology clinics, imaging departments in hospitals and day surgeries, cardiology practices with echo or angiography, obstetric and vascular ultrasound providers, dental practices with CBCT billing Medicare, and radiation oncology facilities.
The register ties each LSPN to the modalities accredited at that site under the Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Scheme (DIAS), from plain radiography through CT, MRI, ultrasound and nuclear medicine.
How do you get or update an LSPN?
New registrations and amendments go through Services Australia using form HW061 (Application to register or amend a diagnostic imaging or radiation oncology practice), or online through HPOS if you hold PRODA access for the practice.
Registration details that change, new equipment, a renamed entity, a relocation, must be updated within 28 days. The public register normally reflects accreditation changes within about five business days, which is the same cadence this map picks them up on.
Why accreditation end dates deserve an alarm
DIAS accreditation runs in cycles, and the register lists an end date per modality per site. If a date lapses, Medicare billing for that modality stops until it is fixed: an expensive week for a busy CT list.
Claiming your practice on this map adds a safety net: we email you when the register shows your accreditation or registration end date inside 30 days, again inside 7 days, and if it lapses. It does not replace your accreditor relationship; it is an independent check that the public record still says what you think it says.
About the data
Practice details come from the public Services Australia LSPN register, refreshed nightly, including historical registrations that have since ended. Map positions are geocoded from registered addresses; where a street level match is not available the pin sits at the suburb or postcode centre and is drawn hollow.
Ownership group is a best-effort read of trading names on the register, not a corporate registry, so treat it as a guide and tell us about anything wrong. Is the LSPN Map free to use?
Yes. The map, search and claim alerts are free. Trucell builds radiology IT systems (PACS, RIS, imaging networks) and provides the tool as a service to the industry.
Where does the data come from?
From the public LSPN register published by Services Australia, checked nightly. Each practice shows its registration dates and the modalities accredited under the Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Scheme.
How fresh are the alerts?
The register updates within about five business days of a change, and the map syncs nightly, so alerts usually land within a day of a change appearing on the register.
Can anyone claim my practice?
Claiming only links an email address to alert notifications for that LSPN; it changes nothing on the map or the register, and claimant details are never displayed. Every claim requires email verification first.

How is this different from other LSPN maps and lists?
Most published lists are exported once and go stale. This map re-reads the register every night, shows the date of the last sync, tracks registrations that end and trading names that change, and can email you when the register changes near your practice.
