Strengthening medical imaging connectivity: Fortinet rollout for an Australian radiology group

Centralised Fortinet operations with FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer: plus FortiGate, FortiSwitch, and FortiAP estates across clinics: so a growing radiology group could scale securely without sacrificing clinical IT performance.

Fortinet Secure SD‑WAN and clinic connectivity for radiology

Radiology depends on stable, secure connectivity: imaging traffic, referrals, billing, and patient information all cross the network. As a leading Australian radiology group grew, it needed perimeter and LAN infrastructure that could scale across clinics without multiplying operational risk.

Trucell worked with Fortinet to standardise visibility, policy, and wireless across the footprint.

What we deployed

FortiManager

FortiManager gave the group a single control plane to configure, observe, and maintain appliances: reducing drift between sites and shortening change windows when policies needed to evolve.

FortiAnalyzer

FortiAnalyzer aggregated security and traffic telemetry for correlation, reporting, and faster incident review: important where healthcare retention and audit expectations apply.

FortiGate NGFW

We rolled out 26 FortiGate firewalls to anchor perimeter security for sensitive clinical and administrative workloads, aligning segmentation and inspection with regulatory expectations for health data.

FortiSwitch

35 FortiSwitch units provided deterministic LAN performance between modalities, workstations, voice, and back office systems inside each clinic.

FortiAP wireless

20 FortiAP access points delivered consistent Wi‑Fi coverage (modern standards including Wi‑Fi 5 and Wi‑Fi 6 where specified) with wireless security tied back to the same Fortinet ecosystem.

Across these layers the programme delivered 81 Fortinet appliances deployed in coordination with Trucell delivery practice.

Outcome

Centralised management and analytics simplified day to day operations for the IT function while FortiGate, FortiSwitch, and FortiAP raised the baseline for throughput, resilience, and security across locations.
